We Are Howard
Many of us are living in an age of hum and tech, of concrete and glass and the ever-growing sprawl of development, traffic and rush! The older we get the more dominant this modern world seems to become. In the city, where do we go to relax with a community of like minded people, to see the open sky, to learn to garden, to grow food and share it.
Meet Howard, a bush boy in the city. Someone that is aware of the rush but only to use its momentum to affect change and reconnect others to country and a more considered lifestyle.
Over his long journey, Howard has lived in many locations and through many adventures. From Kayaking oceans, and sailing seas to living in remote outback Australia, New Zealand and Papua new Guinea. Howard has made a home in many places but he has chosen Sydney as his home. During his travels, he has spent a great deal of his time connecting with old cultures, learning old techniques and learning how to grow food, how to compost, hunt, fish & gather. The consistent theme through his life has been to connect with, photograph & embrace nature, open skies and remote cultures.
And Howard learned how to cook! Pretty damn well you might say. He learned about sustainable food systems and primary industry and agriculture. On top of this, Howard saw the importance of the ceremony of sharing food and how much it creates and brings together community. Through this Howard got good at developing and managing some truly remarkable food experiences and events and how to celebrate community and nature through this.
When you meet Howard, the obvious thing about him is his passion to live lightly, to learn & share stories and cross pollinate ideas and experiences with others.
Howard has a studio in Marrickville with a beautiful roof top garden full of food and aquaponics ponds. Below this garden is his studio space which houses a commercial kitchen, a space where Howard runs workshops and a photographic studio. Located right in the heart of this vibrant suburb, friends of Howard can come together and access some truly special experiences, meet new people, share stories, workshops and build communities.
On top of this, friends of Howard can access his calendar and book out the studio space for private photoshoots and happenings where Howard will be able to provide guests with all the food, drink and service they need.
Howard is a membership based enterprise and the brain child of Daz Byrne (Bushy) and Jared Ingersoll (chef) who shared the idea of developing a space that would combine their personal passions, skills and knowledge to create a hub that would allow members to share in and develop various journeys, events, workshops and creative activities.
